L. Edward Shaw, Jr.
L. Edward Shaw Jr. served as a senior managing director of Richard C. Breeden & Co., engaged in investment management, strategic consulting, and governance matters from 2006 until his retirement in July, 2010. For most of his career, he served in senior legal and executive roles with major financial institutions. He was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of both Aetna, Inc. and The Chase Manhattan Bank, and, in addition to his legal role, his responsibilities included a wide range of strategic planning, risk management, compliance and public policy issues. Mr. Shaw also served as Chief Corporate Officer of the Americas for National Westminster Bank. In 2004 he was appointed Independent Counsel to the Board of Directors of the New York Stock Exchange on regulatory matters. He currently serves as a director of Encompass Health Corporation (formerly HealthSouth Corp.) and is also a member of the board of Covenant House, the country's largest private provider of crisis care to children. Mr. Shaw graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and received his Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. He became an MSA director in 1999.
